Iroquois Kitchen Project is a California 501(c) non-profit organization. The Project was established in 2021, in the midst of the Corona pandemic, by our philanthropic young director, Ara Mehran. Our mission is to provide food for anyone who is hungry for it. We partner with charitable restaurants that honor the project and sell us their food at their cost and a very discounted price. The Project delivers restaurant quality food to food kitchens and other social service organizations. Fresh food is a significant change from the day-old fast food most social service organizations could otherwise afford to provide. Our patrons either donate financial contributions toward the purchase of the food or help us expand by inviting and recruiting restaurants to participate in the project.
We are proud to partner with a variety of local charitable restauranteurs to provide great quality and delicious food for those who need it. These restaurants sell us their food at their cost for a fraction of the prices on their menus so we can deliver their food to soup kitchens and churches where it is served to the hungry. Our restaurant partners are the main reason we are able to extend our reach and impact in the community. We recognize the important role our restaurant partners play in the success of the Iroquois Kitchen Project, and in appreciation, spotlight their donations on our web site.

The Iroquois Project takes pride in helping those in need. About five hundred years ago, the Iroquois Confederation, comprised of six Indian tribes, lived in peace and harmony in the New York area. At the center of each Iroquois village, and in their longhouses, a simmering cauldron of corn soup was always standing on fire for anyone who wished to eat from it. The ever available soup was nourishing for those who needed it, while representing the Iroquois prospering community. Rain or shine, heat or cold, the soup cauldron resisted the elements. The soup brought people together, and it created the foundation for their society—a foundation based upon kindness and acceptance.
